Germany arrests suspected militants
Nine suspected Islamic militants are in custody in Germany after being arrested on suspicion of planning attacks on US and British interests in the country.
13 men were originally arrested, but four of them have since been released due to lack of evidence.
German police said the men were arrested because some of them were about to leave the country.
They said the cell had not selected specific targets, but “American and British interests could have been intended”.
Prosecutors said the nine men were members of a Palestinian group called al-Tawhid.
They are accused of providing false travel documents, collecting donations and helping smuggle Islamic fighters from Afghanistan to Germany.
