ETA blamed for Madrid bomb

A car bomb has exploded in the Spanish capital, Madrid, damaging 17 cars and smashing windows in several nearby buildings.

Three people were also treated for shock and one was hospitalised following the blast, which has already been blamed on the Basque separatist group ETA.

This morning’s explosion followed another in Bilbao that came after a warning from ETA. The Spanish Interior Ministry said there was no warning before today’s attack.

The two car bombs come as the Spanish Government moves closer to passing legislation

outlawing the Basque independence party Batasuna, which is allegedly linked to ETA.

The new law would outlaw all political groups which sympathise or collaborate with “terrorists”.
