US woman jailed for life for killing her three children

A court in the US has sentenced an Illinois woman who fed her three children drug-laced peanut butter then smothered them in their beds to life in prison without parole.

44-year-old Marilyn Lemak was convicted of first-degree murder for killing the children, aged three, six and seven, in 1999, after a jury rejected her insanity defence.
