South Asian heads of state try to clam tension
Heads of state in South Asia are trying to calm the tension in the region, which is teetering on the brink of war.
India and Pakistan are on alert as their armies continue to build up along shared borders.
The tensions are building as Kashmiri militants behind a gun attack on the Indian Parliament hide out in Pakistan.
Leaders of the nuclear neighbours have shaken hands at a summit in Nepal.
The Indian Prime Minister Atal Biharri Vajpayee says that it is a start to securing good relations and avoiding all-out war.
He says “now Musharraf must follow the stature by not permitting any activity in Pakistan which enables terrorists to perpetrate mindless violence in India.”
