Border clashes continue between India and Pakistan

Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged heavy fire and shelled each other through a second night as the Indian army asked more villagers along the border to move to safer places.

The call comes after more than 2000 villagers in the Galahar region evacuated to safer places.

The Indian army claimed it has destroyed eight bunkers since firing began in the region on Sunday after Pakistani troops killed two Indian soldiers on patrol.

Meanwhile mortar shelling continues in two other sectors, Poonch and Naushera, where three Indian soldiers were critically wounded.

Border skirmishes are common between India and Pakistan along the frontier in Kashmir, a disputed Himalayan province that has been the flash point of two wars between the countries since independence from Britain.
