Twelve Russian servicemen killed

Twelve Russian servicemen have been killed in the breakaway Russian Republic of Chechnya.

Most of them died after being attacked by rebels.

The others lost their lives after hitting land mines.

Russian aircraft have responded by bombing and artillery shelling suspected opposition bases.
