Nasa to assist air crash investigators

Nasa has been called in to help investigate the air crash in the Queens district of New York.

It is hoped they can help explain why the plane's tail broke off.

All 260 people on board and five on the ground died during the crash on November 12.

Specialist scientists who work with the carbon-fibre of the type used to make the aircraft's tail section will be called on.

Ted Lopatkiewicz, a spokesman for the transportation safety board, said: "This isn't the first time we've worked with Nasa."
