Earthquake hits Mexico
A strong earthquake has rattled southern Mexico shattering windows and sending scared residents running from their homes. There were no immediate reports of casualties.
The quake of magnitude 6.4 was centred along the Pacific coast of the southern state of Chiapas, according to the National Earthquake Information Centre in Golden, Colorado, USA.
It briefly knocked out electricity in the state capital Tuxtla Gutierrez and was felt as far away as El Salvador and Mexico City, 475 miles north west.
