Concorde takes off late after extra safety checks

A Concorde flight from London to New York was delayed this morning following a suspected engine problem.

British Airways flight 001 left Heathrow for JFK at 11.28am instead of its scheduled 11am slot because the pilot wanted to carry out ‘‘additional technical checks’’ - further to the routine inspections - on one engine.
