Northern Alliance claims to have seized Afghan village

Afghanistan’s opposition Northern Alliance has claimed that it has seized the village of Shol Ghar and is now just eight miles south of the strategic city of Mazar-e-Sharif.

The Taliban has strongly denied the claim and said it is moving 500 extra soldiers into the area, despite constant US carpet-bombing.
