US President George W Bush’s national security adviser, Condoleeza Rice, has said the United States will not call a halt to its attacks on Afghanistan for the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

US President George W Bush’s national security adviser, Condoleeza Rice, has said the United States will not call a halt to its attacks on Afghanistan for the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Ms Rice said the US "could not afford" to postpone the attacks, despite the fact that aid agencies from all over the world have urged the US to do so.
