Hundred warplanes bomb Afghanistan
Almost 100 US warplanes have bombed targets in Afghanistan as the Northern Alliance moves its troops to the front line.
Kandahar has come under a sustained attack, which the Taliban describes as "relentless".
The Pentagon says air strikes have mainly been carried out against the Taliban troops defending Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif.
The Northern Alliance deployed hundreds of elite fighters north of Kabul - ready for the order to march on the capital.
The Taliban and Northern Alliance have been battling for control of the air base at Bagram.
A brigade commander near the front lines north of Kabul, says air attacks so far have not been enough, and that carpet-bombing of the front lines would be necessary.
Abdul Rahman said: "It would be more effective if they used big planes and dropped 50-60 bombs at a time."
