Hollywood stars in US charity gig
A galaxy of Hollywood stars has come together to raise money for the families of the victims of last week’s US terrorist attacks.
Stars taking part in a charity telethon include Robert de Niro, George Clooney, Tom Hanks, Clint Eastwood, Tom Cruise, Julia Roberts, Robin Williams, Cameron Diaz, Jim Carey, Will Smith and Kelsey Grammer, star of the comedy show Fraser.
David Angell, one of the producers of Fraser, was aboard one of the hijacked planes.
The telethon, America: A Tribute to Heroes, is scheduled for broadcast at 2am on Saturday (US time 9pm) from locations in New York and Los Angeles.
It is to be shown on four major US networks which will ask viewers to phone in with pledges of cash donations.
