Dozens killed as Muslims and Christians clash in Nigeria
Dozens of people have reportedly been killed in Nigeria as rival Muslim and Christian mobs rampage through the streets of the northern city of Jos.
Bands of youths have been exchanging gunfire on the streets since yesterday evening, while churches have been set alight and residents forced to flee their homes.
The authorities have imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew to try to stem the violence.
Isa Abdulsalam, a journalist based in Jos, said he saw 10 bodies when he dared to venture outside his home.
Other residents have said they saw dozens of bodies. Major roads around the city of 4m people were blocked by youths armed with guns, machetes, clubs and other weapons.
Hundreds of wounded people are also filling hospitals throughout the city.
