Bosnian-Serb pleads not guilty to genocide

A Bosnian-Serb army officer accused of leading troops during the Srebrenica massacre has pleaded not guilty to genocide charges at the UN War Crimes Tribunal.

Vidoje Blagojevic, a colonel in the Bosnian-Serb Army, was formally charged with eight crimes against humanity in the Hague today.

The 51-year-old was still active in the military when he was arrested by NATO last Friday.

Blagojevic was secretly indicted along with General Radisalv Krstic in November 1998.

Last month, the UN tribunal sentenced Krstic to 46 years in jail for his part in the slaughter of an estimated 8,000 Muslims in Srebrenica in 1995.
