Wahid remains in palace
The ousted Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid remains in his palace this morning.
Major cities, including the capital Jakarta, remain calm and the financial markets continue to soar following the change of power to Megawati Sukarnoputri.
Yesterday, politicians voted overwhelmingly to sack Wahid, who repeatedly warned that a coup would trigger violent protests and the immediate breakaway of six provinces.
Megawati's rise to power has the support of the military.
