Big Brother contestant Elizabeth was celebrating her 27th birthday today with a surprise present from fellow housemate Bubble.
Bubble, who faces eviction this week, has already given her his favourite black hat as a birthday gift.
But he was set to reveal his sensitive side with a poem he has written especially for the occasion and spelt out in rocks from the garden.
The housemates serenaded Elizabeth at the stroke of midnight as she turned 27 and handed over their gifts.
Brian gave her a pink shawl donated by evictee Narinder, while Helen gave her a white top that Elizabeth had previously admired, using the pages of a magazine as wrapping paper.
Elizabeth was overwhelmed when Bubble gave her his hat, telling him: ‘‘I’ll make you a hat when I get out.’’
‘‘I’ve got my exit outfit,’’ she joked wearing the hat and the shawl together
This morning he was due to give her the poem he had written after asking permission from Big Brother to write it with rocks because pens and paper are banned.
The chirpy Cockney, 25, who has admitted he is only in the show for the cash, looked shocked when news of his nomination was read out.
‘‘I came in here with the purpose to win,’’ he said. ‘‘If I walk out it’s a waste because it has cost me my job and time with my little girl.’’
But Paul, 25, for whom the weekly vote is now becoming something of a routine, took the news in his stride.
Despite being nominated, Bubble remained overall favourite to win the £70,000 prize according to the official on-line bookies Paddy Power, which quoted his odds as 11/4.
Paul, who has recently been making amorous advances towards Welsh hairdresser Helen, is hot favourite for the chop on Friday at 1/6, while Bubble is the outsider at 7/2.
