Sharon talks tough before Bush meeting
Hoping for US support in stabilising a ceasefire with the Palestinians, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon prefaced a meeting with US President George W. Bush by setting tough conditions for resuming peace talks.
Sharon was to meet Bush today at the White House, his second visit in three months. The meeting reflects stepped-up US involvement in the Middle East conflict, after an initial period when the Bush administration tried to limit the US role.
