Flooding and landslides, caused by storms in southern China, have killed 14 people.

In southern Guangdong province, where the people were killed, thousands were stranded and more than 3,900 houses destroyed.

The storms, which began on Tuesday, also caused landslides and flooding in parts of Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Observatory recorded rainfall of about 6 inches in the worst-hit rural areas on early Sunday.

It received 29 flooding reports and two landslides were recorded.

Firefighters waded through chest-deep water and rescued at least 10 people stranded by floods on Sunday.
