Prince honours cancer nurses
The Prince of Wales was today honouring four cancer nurses for their commitment.
A ceremony to name the Marie Curie/Clinton Cards Nurses of the Year was taking place at St James’s Palace.
The Prince, who is president of Marie Curie Cancer Care, was giving out the awards to the four nurses - from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland - who were chosen from more than 4,000 Marie Curie nurses nationwide.
They will be expected to act as ambassadors for their colleagues, raising awareness and funds for the charity, which combines home and hospice nursing with research.
A spokeswoman for Marie Curie said: ‘‘These awards are not about recognising winners, because all our nurses are winners. They are about finding nurses brave enough to act as ambassadors in public.’’
