Landslide toll rises to 34

A landslide which destroyed a nine-story apartment building in southwestern China has killed at least 34 people.

Only seven people out of 25 families in the building were known to have escaped the disaster on Tuesday evening in the city of Chongqing, said Xinhua, the state news agency.
