Five more cases of foot-and-mouth confirmed in Wales
Five more cases of foot-and-mouth disease have been confirmed in Wales, taking the total to 39.
Cases have been confirmed at Llanigon, near Hay-on-Wye, Powys; in Hadnock on the Wales Hereford border; in Llandrindod Wells and on Hope Mountain, near Welshpool.
The fifth case is at another farm at Llangristiolus, on Anglesey, where a mass cull is to be staged on Tuesday.
About 40,000 livestock within a 50-square-mile area of south west Anglesey would be slaughtered, a Welsh Assembly spokeswoman said.
NFU Cymru president Hugh Richards said the cull was a "dark day for Welsh farmers" but added that they would accept it if scientists believed it was the best way to halt the disease.
