BBC blast maybe linked to Omagh

British anti-terrorist police are investigating a possible link between last night’s car bomb at the BBC Television Centre and the networks decision to name suspects for the Omagh atrocity.

Scotland Yard says it cannot ignore the possibility that the decision to broadcast the names could have provoked the bombing.

Meanwhile police say that a sustained bombing campaign appears to be underway and are calling for increased vigilance.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Alan Fry says it was only the quick action of the BBC and his officers that prevented deaths in last night’s attack.

He says the bomb, which was packed in a London taxi, was a big device and contained about 20 pounds of explosives.
