Terror alert across London

Police have placed London on terror alert following the overnight car bomb blast at the BBC Television Centre in Shepherd’s Bush.

The attack is being linked to three others by the so-called Real IRA during the past year, including the missile attack on the headquarters of MI6.

Debris was sent across a large area when a stolen taxi exploded outside the main entrance to the BBC.

Daylight has revealed some damage to the building and nearby homes and vehicles.

The blast was caught on camera and has been shown by British television stations this morning.

During the course of the day the footage is expected to be fed across the globe, ensuring a PR success for the terrorists.

Scotland Yard says the scene will remain sealed off for much of the day and is appealing to the public, especially people in London to be extra vigilant.

Security forces have been warning of a renewed terror campaign since before Christmas.
