Car bomb in Spain kills Navy cook

One man has been killed after a bomb attached to a car exploded in San Sebastian in northern Spain.

The blast completely destroyed the car. The victim was identified as Ramon Villagarcia, a cook who worked in Spanish Navy offices.

No group claimed responsibility for the bomb, but it bore all the hallmarks of the Basque separatist group ETA.

It has killed some 800 people since it began fighting for an independent Basque state in 1968.

ETA has claimed responsibility for killing 23 people since it ended a 14-month ceasefire in December 1999. It regularly targets military personnel.
