Internet twins couple to fight on

The couple at the centre of the internet adoption row say they are right to fight a custody battle over the twins.

Judith Kilshaw told reporters that she and her husband Alan would fight on because they believe the children are rightfully theirs.

The six-month old twins Belinda and Kimberley have been taken into custody by Flintshire County Council who want to make the girls wards of court.

Mrs Kilshaw said: "We are still fighting for our children because they are our children.

I was upset last night when I thought I wouldn't see them when they get to 18 and get married.

"I am hopeful that they will still be with us and if they are not with us physically they will be with us in our thoughts. I will never forget them if I never see them again. They are always in my mind and memory."

The Department of Health says that health minister John Hutton has written to the UK's Internet Service Providers' Association (ISPA) warning that they could be breaking the law if they have illegal adoption websites online.

Under UK law, only local authorities and voluntary adoption agencies approved by the Health Secretary are allowed to advertise children for adoption.

A DoH spokeswoman said: "The letter to the ISPA is intended to help UK-based internet service providers stay within the law.

"We do not expect ISPs to take any action to seek out illegal adoption websites but we do expect ISPs to remove them immediately if they become aware of them."
