Rescuers working round the clock to reach 21 miners trapped in a flooded Chinese coal mine say hopes of finding them alive are fading.

Only one of 22 miners working in the mine in Laibing county in the Guangxi region of south China managed to escape when it flooded on Friday morning.

Six pumps have worked through the night sucking water out of the mine. So far no survivors have been found.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
