Special Branch and senior police have been accused of sabotaging investigations into historical child sex abuse committed by VIPs, MPs, and officers, amid new corruption allegations against Scotland Yard.

The police watchdog set out 12 cases relating to the Metropolitan Police’s investigation of paedophile activities spanning four decades.

Some 29 claims are being assessed in a probe conducted by the force and overseen by the Independent Police Complaints Commission. A decision has not been made on the handling of 18 more allegations.
