Helen Mirren: Fascination with my age and beauty is boring

But the star said she accepts it as âpart and parcelâ of her job.
Asked how she finds the interest that there is in her age and her beauty regime, she said: âItâs boring. Itâs boring.â
Pressed on whether she understands the fascination with it, she replied: âNo, I donât understand your fascination with it. And I donât think you have. I think youâre saying what your editor told you to say.
âI just take it as part and parcel as my job. And it is.â
Mirren, who won her first Tony Award for her role as the Queen in The Audience last month, said you âdonât lose interest as a womanâ, or even as a man, in these things as you get older.
âAll we do is we get more knowledge about them,â said Mirren. âWe get more knowledge about whatâs good for you, whatâs bad for you, what works for you, what doesnât work for you. And so I donât see why, as an older person, you should be excluded from the fun of all of that.â
Mirren, who also won an Oscar for The Queen, said she does not have a motto for life but is getting less and less rule-bound.
âThere are ways of living life... and we impose rules upon ourselves all the time,â she said.
Referring to her appearance in a beauty campaign, she joked: âTo do a beauty campaign at my age is a bit sort of out of order really.â
