20 killed as militants open fire in Tunis

Gunmen in military uniforms stormed Tunisia’s national museum yesterday, killing 18 foreign tourists and two Tunisians in one of the worst militant attacks in a country that has largely escaped the region’s Arab Spring turmoil.

Two militants were also killed in the incident.

Visitors from Italy, Germany, Poland, and Spain were among the dead in the midday assault on the Bardo museum near parliament in central Tunis, said prime minister Habib Essid.
