Hotel floor a snip at $500k a month

Somebody in New York has dipped into their wallet to pay $500,000 (€402,607) a month to rent the 39th floor of the legendary Pierre Hotel.

Hotel floor a snip at $500k a month

The Wall Street Journal reports the floor containing six bedrooms has been rented out for the month of December to an ā€˜international renter’ — making it the most expensive rental unit in New York City.

With the price tag comes a bit of luxury — guests are given complete access to the butler service, pet pampering, twice daily maid service, and the hotel’s chauffeur-driven Jaguar.

There is private elevator landing for the 4,786 square feet of living space that includes six bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms and spectacular views of Central Park and Manhattan’s picturesque East and West skylines.

The Journal also says the renter has also reserved a 10th-floor Getty suite for $150,000 per month, for what listing agent Therese Bateman calls ā€œan extended family-entourage situationā€.

ā€œThe Getty Suite has the sophistication of a classic Manhattan home, while enjoying five-star hotel living in one of New York’s finest locations. The gracious one bedroom apartment suite includes an exquisitely furnished living and dining area that opens to a coveted 920 square foot furnished terrace with a private garden, views of Central Park and sweeping open views of the city,ā€ says a PR website.

Pierre’s website says pets are allowed as long as they don’t weigh more than 15 pounds.

The Pierre was once owned by Standard Oil tycoon John Paul Getty but has since been sold to Taj Hotels, part of the Tata group, founded by Ratan Tata. It has played host to countless celebrities, including Lady Gaga. The hotel’s spectacular three-storey penthouse, owned by stock investor Martin Zweig, is on the market for $95m, according to the Daily News.

The most expensive rental property in the US, however, is a house in Beverly Hills, California, called Beverly House, which at $600,000 a month, pips the Pierre’s price tag.
