This remarkable tattoo can produce power from your sweat

The more we sweat, the more energy it can harness, as it’s during strenuous exercise our bodies start to generate lactate, which is swarming with electrons.

Scientists at the University of California San Diego created the small tattoo by imprinting a flexible lactate sensor onto temporary tattoo paper – the sensors are able to strip electrons from lactate which is then able to generate a weak electric current.

At the moment, the energy harvested is only enough to charge a bio-battery but researchers are developing ways to enable us to charge bigger and better gadgets like smart-phones and tablets.
