Gillard wants Liberals to dump candidate over ‘sexist’ prank

Australia’s prime minister has demanded the political scalp of the high-profile Liberal candidate Mal Brough over the “grossly sexist” wording of a menu for his federal election fundraiser.

However, a letter has emerged claiming the offensive menu was “a light-hearted joke” by a restaurateur.

Joe Richards, owner of Richards and Richards restaurant where the $1,000-a-head function was held, says he created the menu, which included “Julia Gillard Kentucky Fried Quail — Small Breasts, Huge Thighs & A Big Red Box”, as a private joke.
