Search continues for 100 trapped in mudslide
The official Xinhua News Agency said the mudslide, triggered by days of storms, engulfed a village in Yunnan province, trapping at least 200 people.
It said local firefighters had rescued more than 80 people.
Xinhua said the village has a population of about 940.
Mudslides are common in China’s mountainous areas, killing hundreds of people every year. Critics say deforestation has caused soil erosion and made some parts of China prone to mudslides after strong rain.
