Bloodshed in Syria as West and Russia debate action

Fresh bloodshed swept Syria yesterday after Western powers and the Arab League demanded immediate UN action to stop the regime’s “killing machine”.

However, Russia said any vote needed more time.

Wrangling at the UN came as fierce clashes raged across Syria between president Bashar al-Assad’s forces and rebel fighters of the Free Syrian Army.
