Baby Blue gets gold, a crystal high chair and a mini Bugatti
The couple have filled their three homes with every top-end baby product imaginable, including a solid gold rocking horse that set them back a mere €484,000. “They’re really pulling out all the stops — the two of them have been spending like there’s no tomorrow,” said an insider.
The couple welcomed their first child, a little girl, Blue Ivy, into the world on Saturday.
“Together they’ve bought a Swarovski-studded high chair by Carla Monchen for €12,000, and a Fantasy ‘posh tots’ coach carriage crib for €36,000.
“Jay-Z bought Beyoncé a solid gold handmade Ginza Tanaka rocking horse for €484,000. They’ve even splashed out on a €24,000 magical windmill playhouse for the garden and a mini Bugatti car too.”
The couple also spent €290,000 to ensure the nurseries in each of their three homes are identical so the baby will feel at home when they travel.
Their friends have been splashing the cash too.
Kelly Rowland is said to have spent about €6,000 on a baby bath studded with 44,928 Swarovski crystals.
The happy couple released an official statement confirming the addition to their family and dispelled reports that the little girl was born via caesarean-section.
“Hello Hello Baby Blue!” they began. “We are happy to announce the arrival of our beautiful daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, born on Saturday, January 7, 2012. Her birth was emotional and extremely peaceful, we are in heaven.
“She was delivered naturally at a healthy 7lbs and it was the best experience of both of our lives. We are thankful to everyone for all of your prayers, well wishes, loves and support.”
Meanwhile, a representative for the Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, where Beyoncé gave birth, dispelled reports the couple paid a sizeable sum to close off a whole floor to ensure privacy.
“The suggestion that the couple paid $1.3 million [€1m] to rent an entire maternity floor is simply not true,” the spokesperson said, adding that they had received no complaints from any other parents at the hospital.
There had been reports that a father was stopped from entering the intensive care unit to see his premature twins by the stars’ security and that mothers at the hospital were considering filing a lawsuit because of the alleged disruption.
