La Dolce Vita cafe seized

THE Italian cafe made legendary in the film La Dolce Vita was seized as a Mafia asset along with £174 million (€200m) in property and businesses by police yesterday.

The Cafe de Paris was one of 13 restaurants, apartments and luxury cars owned by the ‘Ndrangheta clan which were taken in Rome.

It became a symbol of La Dolce Vita, or “the sweet life”, in the 1960s.

The glitzy nightlife on Rome’s upmarket Via Veneto where the restaurant is located was immortalised by Federico Fellini’s 1960 movie.
