Couple killed by lightening

A RECENTLY married couple were killed in a lightning strike at the weekend while climbing on a rugged section of the Great Wall of China.

The Beijing Times said the force of the strike caused the pair to fall off the wall in Huairou.

Rescuers arrived about two hours later but the couple had stopped breathing.

The paper said the couple were aged 27 and had married late last year.

The man worked at the State Intellectual Property Office while his wife was a PhD candidate at Peking University.
