The US President gave them a rare chance to be proud of themselves at a time when their government is falling apart and economy badly hit.

Under the gaze of marksmen from the castle windows, the gentle rhythm of blue-grass music from a home-grown band kept the feel-good factor high among the crowd of mostly young people, who happily waved the tiny Czech and American flags handed out by US officials.
