All ears as Mirren reveals crush on political journalist
Asked which living man she would like to have a night of passion with, she named the BBC correspondent. She told Glamour magazine: “I’m not sure... I never had idols or pin-ups when I was growing up — I felt it was putting yourself in this subservient role and I was never interested in that.”
The interviewer reminded her of an interview with Marr in which she claimed the awe-struck journalist “practically forgot how to speak”.
Mirren joked: “Aren’t those ears great? I just wanted to grab them... He’s like some fabulous, little, wonderful animal. And so incredibly smart. Maybe I’ll have a night of passion with Andrew Marr.”
She also spoke about her recent marriage to director Taylor Hackford after 10 years as a couple.
“It was never my intention to marry anybody,” she said. “Economics are basically the only reason to get married, but I’m very glad I did it. I ended up loving it more than I thought I would. I love that I am committed to him and he is to me, and I am utterly convinced that we will be together until I die or he dies.”
