Chinese heritage on display

AN unprecedented exhibition featuring warriors from China’s Terracotta Army takes place at the British Museum from Thursday. About a dozen of the world-famous figures have been moved across the world from the tomb of China’s First Emperor, where they were uncovered in 1974.

They will be displayed alongside more than 100 other objects to form the most important exhibition relating to the First Emperor ever seen outside China.

The decision to allow members of China’s Terracotta Army to travel across the globe to the British Museum marks a cultural watershed in ties between the communist state and the West.
