Mother’s plea for Molly’s safe return
Louise Campbell said her daughter Molly’s disappearance had come “completely out of the blue” and begged her to come home.
Molly’s grandmother spoke earlier of her fears that her granddaughter would be forced to become a child bride. Violet Robertson told the Daily Record she was concerned Molly had been kidnapped to marry a 25-year-old man.
Chief Inspector Murdo Fraser, of Northern Constabulary, said he was not willing to speculate on the report that Molly was the subject of an arranged marriage. He added that the force believed Molly was in Pakistan but did not know her exact whereabouts.
“We are appealing for anyone who has any knowledge of where Molly is to get in touch with us and give us some assurances in terms of her safety and well-being,” he said.
She also appealed to Molly’s father, Sajad Ahmed Rana, her sister, Tahmina, and other family members to ensure the schoolgirl’s safe return.
An international hunt is under way for Molly, from Stornoway in the Western Isles of Scotland.
Police believe the youngster travelled to Lahore with her father and sister after going missing from school last Friday.
Northern Constabulary suspect that Molly was picked up by her 18-year-old sister on Friday morning before they flew to Glasgow from Stornoway, on the Isle of Lewis.
The pair then flew to Lahore with their father, who had visited Lewis the previous day before travelling to Glasgow.
