Doherty wants implant to kick drugs
The troubled Babyshambles star told Thames Magistrates’ Court, in east London, that he wants to get the opiate-suppressing implant within the next two weeks.
Doherty, 27 represented himself at the latest review of his treatment programme for crack cocaine and heroin addiction.
Wearing his trademark black suit and trilby, the singer looked tired and dishevelled as he turned up at court over two hours late. Last month it was reported Doherty had tried to have an implant fitted at a Portuguese rehabilitation clinic.
He told district judge Jane McIvor that he wanted to try again.
The judge told Doherty, while he continued to impress his doctors with his progress, she was still waiting for his first negative test result. But she recommended that his drug tests are reduced from twice a week to once a week.
