Kate faces financial blow in drug fallout
The 31-year-old is believed to have amassed a fortune of some €45 million from her years at the top after becoming Britain’s most successful model since Twiggy.
Earlier this year, Forbes magazine ranked her among the top 100 most powerful celebrities in the world - but, following the sensational allegations, her healthy bank balance will take a pounding after she was dropped by some of the biggest names in fashion.
Three days ago, High Street staple H&M dumped her as the face of a forthcoming Stella McCartney collection campaign. She was rumoured to have coined anything between €750,000 and €1.5m for the work.
Moss has been the face of Coco Mademoiselle perfume for the past four years, but the world-famous house of Chanel announced it would not be renewing her contract. That deal, signed last year, was rumoured to be worth up to €1.5m.
The French fashion company’s move was followed just hours later by the British label, Burberry, who parted company with the model by mutual consent. Their ad campaign was scheduled for autumn, and Burberry said it was “saddened by her current circumstances” and wished her well.
And, even more worryingly for the Croydon-born catwalk queen, other brands which use her - including cosmetics giants Rimmel and Christian Dior - are under pressure to follow suit.
Her apology may be enough to save the deal with the make-up company, which has said it was reviewing her contract. Moss is rumoured to have a seven-figure deal with the brand.
The model is facing possible criminal charges after Scotland Yard chief Ian Blair said he had personally ordered an investigation into the drug allegations.
Moss, who has a two-year-old daughter Lila Grace, could also face a social services investigation by Westminster Council.
