Bookies back Labour victory

LABOUR are odds on to win the British general election. Bookies William Hill made Labour 1/12 favourites to take the most seats on May 5.

The Conservatives are 6/1 and the Liberal Democrats trail on 66/1. Bookies give Labour a 1/9 chance of winning an overall majority, the Conservatives 12/1 and the Lib Dems 150/1.

The odds of a hung parliament are also 13/2.

Hill’s are also offering odds of 10/1 that the Lib Dems will win more seats than the Tories - making good their claim to be the real alternative to Labour.

And bookies are predicting a betting bonanza with more than €14.5 million staked on the outcome.

Hill’s have already taken a €73,000 bet on a Labour win.
