Suspected terrorists arrested

SPANISH police arrested three Moroccans yesterday who they believe were seeking to buy explosives for a terrorist attack.

The three were part of a radical Islamic cell that sought to buy explosives “with the aim of committing terrorist attacks in our country”, the Interior Ministry said.

The arrests came after Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero announced that Spain would activate a special security plan to guard the Christmas holiday period against a terrorist attack.
