Mother still sobs at loss of her son in North Tower

A MOTHER who lost her only son in the tragedy still sobs herself to sleep as she struggles to come to terms with the death of her “confident, Cockney lad.”

Speaking from her home in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, Patricia Bingley said she still felt that from the moment her son, Kevin Dennis, was killed, her life was finished: “It has been so hard because of a lot of things. It doesn’t get any better. It just gradually sinks in as you talk to people, the realisation that he isn’t here any more.

“You can’t believe that you are never going to hear his voice again, never going to see him again. I cry a lot, the grief comes in and out. I do most of it in private, I sob until I collapse exhausted and then I try to carry on with life.”

Brought up in London’s East End, Kevin lived in America for 21 years. At the age of 22 he was headhunted by Chase Manhattan and moved to the US where he married his wife, Debra.

The couple returned to Britain, living in St John’s Wood, north London, and Debra underwent IVF treatment. Twins Ryan and Elliot were born in November 1994, but shortly after the birth Kevin was headhunted by financial company Cantor Fitzgerald and they returned to America.

Mrs Bingley said she was looking forward to telling her grandsons about their father when they were older.

“I will be one of the few people who will be able to tell them about their daddy.” Mrs Bingley, 67, describes her son as a “confident, Cockney lad” who was popular among his American colleagues.”
