Suicide bomb attack at Iraqi army recruitment centre kills six
Iraq’s parliament was also adjourned in protest after a legislator belonging to a militant Shi’ite faction claimed he had been roughed up at a US checkpoint. The suicide bombing occurred in the Azamiyah section of the capital about 18 metres from the front gate of the recruitment centre, killing at least six Iraqis, including two soldiers, and wounding 44, said police Colonel Hussein Mutlaq.
The country’s most feared terror group, al-Qaida in Iraq, claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement on a militant website.
