Evans ‘could not accept he no longer owned station’

CHRIS EVANS could not accept he was no longer the owner of Virgin Radio but an employee, a station executive who became his boss alleged yesterday.

Bobby Hain, business development director for Scottish Media Group which bought Virgin Radio from Evans in a £220 million (€322m) deal, was giving evidence in the former television presenter and DJ’s High Court action.

Mr Hain, who in 1997 was effectively employed by Evans who had a majority shareholding in Virgin Radio, returned to the station in 2000 as an SMG director after Evans had sold out in a deal which netted him £70m (€103m).
