‘No vetting request’

THE Chief Constable of Cambridgeshire Police accepts it is “more likely than not” that his force never asked Humberside Police to vet Soham killer Ian Huntley, the Bichard Inquiry heard yesterday.

‘No vetting request’

The revelation emerged as Humberside’s Chief Constable David Westwood was being cross examined by counsel to the inquiry James Eadie.

In his submission to the inquiry Mr Westwood has said that the evidence suggested Cambridgeshire had not asked for an intelligence check on Huntley, or for a check on his alias Nixon.
